weekend cooking:soup

check out more weekend creations here

a little late, but you know what they say…

and I didn’t do the cooking this time, however it did happen in my kitchen

Uncle D was here for a visit and made a large pot of his famous pea & ham soup.

here are just a few of the containers- scroll down for a quotes

Given that I am currently reading the Biog. of Carl Sagan, I have no quote re soup from that book,

however,  I will let you know if I find one…

Here are a couple a google search turned up.

“A soup like this is not the work of one man. It is the result of a constantly refined tradition. There are nearly a thousand years of history in this soup.”
Willa Cather, ‘Death Comes for the Archbishop’ (1927)

“Good soup is one of the prime ingredients of good living.  For soup can do more to lift the spirits and stimulate the appetite than any other one dish.”
Louis P. De Gouy, The Soup Book (1949)
