Anna is back in Australia, and reports that all but 2 of the surgeries have been completed. One toddler was still in ICU with a temp. We hope to hear soon that he is ok. The 2 oldest girls may be able to avoid open heart surgery and have a less invasive procedure.
There will be many photographs and a video clip
or 2, uploaded this week.
The soft toys were really appreciated and your contributions made a huge difference.
Please go to my homepage www.janezworld.com and Contact me, if you would like to render further assistance.
Anna looks comepletly exhuasted, but very at peace and deeply happy with the choice she made to escort these children to India. She has helped change their lives.
Please return to see the images from the journeys begining…
I met these Halloween pumpkins in Oxford St Balmoral. I was really surprised I have not seen them in Australia before. The $18 converts to $11USA …I understand these pumpkins are about $2 to $3 in America.
Just carve eyes and a smile in the front and and then lop the top off, and scoop out the pulp and insert a candle for an eery effect. I have no idea if you can eat them…do you?
Hi All,
During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I’m growing a Mo. That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back because I’m passionate about tackling men’s health issues and being proactive in the fight against men’s depression and prostate cancer.
Did you know?
Depression affects 1 in 6 men….most don’t seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer – equivalent to the number of women who will die from breast cancer annually.
To donate to my Mo (regsitered # 1445071)you can either:
1. Click HERE
and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account,
or
2. Write a cheque payable to ‘Movember Foundation’, referencing my Registration Number 1445071 and mailing it to:
Movember Foundation
PO Box 292
Prahran VIC 3181 Remember, all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
The money raised by Movember is used to raise awareness of men’s health issues and donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue – the national depression initiative. The PCFA and beyondblue will use the funds to fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and depression.
Anna is still in Bangalore. There are difficulties accessing the internet so I think we will need to wait until her return for photograohs, etc. However keep an eye on here just in case…
(I seem to have missed sad, lazy & family. Although I have a great image for lazy. Hopefully I will get it loaded soon.)
This weeks theme: Scary.
a little bit of creative licence this week. I noticed the chickens came running frantically everytime anyone stepped into the back yard. They looked so cute and friendly but the offering of food made them ‘killers’; this reminded me of The Birds in the Hitchcock movie.
On Saturday at the Farmer’s Market in New Farm I met the charming and talented Krista from
‘Bon Bon Emporium’
(a stall within the market)
The website will be up soon, but hey, jot this down now.

‘Captivating and stunning…these are no ordinary Bon Bons.’ Choose the type of contents you want…from Epicurian to a Sugar Fix. Not forgetting the children and luxury contents for that special lady or gentleman in your life.
The Bon Bons were stunningly attractive and eye catching. Fabulous packaging, they will make a gift in themselves…and you know it’s only a few weeks to Christmas ( 2 months tomorrow!) and with the economy how it is, it will be the little things that make the day special.

I have been reading Marg’s efforts on TT for a long time now, so I thought I’d try it out.
Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers!

‘I explained that under British law, unless ownership was established by testamentary evidence, such copyright reverted , under UK intestacy law, to the Crown. I love saying that, by the way, the Crown; the image of Elizabeth 11 rubbing her hands in glee as the lucre pours in, corgis yapping around the piles of bright guineas. ‘
My 1st attempt at this comes from ‘The Book of Air and Shadows’ by Michael Gruber
‘Shakespeare’s lost masterpeice, or a deadly fake? That is the question…’
there is a whole lotta space here I dont know why but scroll on down
I am not an American Citizen. Neither do I reside in the USA. I am not employed by an American.
None the less I am intensly interested in the process of electing a new President.
I have followed along since the candidates annoounced their commitees of enquiry, and through the Primarys, Conventions and into these final weeks.
I have watched the debates, and the VP debate. I have read much analysis of the debate contents, and results. . I have thought, and wondered, and considered.
I am not going to state when my preferences lay, (for as my dad taught me ‘Men died on the beaches of Gallipoli so that I might vote in secret) however I will tell you that I couldn’t stand the final debate. I tried to sit through it all, but could not. I just shook my head and turned it off.
In the interests of a fair ballot it is to be hoped that the ‘Bradley effect’ will not occurr, for a man’s colour is not relevant. Perhaps in the end his age is. I am not sure that experience matters much. Look what all the experienced Presidents of the past have done. I’m not sure if previously being a Govenor helps or hinders.
Being Patriotic certainly helps. And yes, USA loves its’ war heroes….was this so, before Kennedy? Or yet another legacy?
I think being honest is very important for the Candidates. Which begs the question, the information that was incorrectly stated in the debate – was it an honest mistake? Or otherwise?
I see ‘Joe the Plumber’ is getting his 15 minutes of fame, as well as being suggested as a VP for Sarah Palin when she runs for President in 4 years. But is he a pumbber and is he really Joe?
..only in USA, and not even in Texas. But hey after the nomination of Govenor Palin, I guess it really is true, if you are born in USA – anyone can become President.
This is a great book. I am learning some exciting things about how the world is, about how other people around me are, and about me. Recomended to me by the Anna who is (hopefully) in India. Recommended to her by TT, while in Dubai from London.
If you have read the book these comments will make sense,
if not, I suggest you read the book, then they will.
Ok -so todays delivery guy was a little older than this; but maybe they start training at this age to be able to know when you have given up on them arriving. Yougone to take a shower, or poached some eggs or made a fresh hot cup of chocolate.
As a result of childhood rhumatic fever, I have had 4 open heart surgeries. In 2000, at Prince Charles Hospital, in Brisbane 2 artificial valves were placed into my heart. I had previously had my damaged mitral valve replaced twice, with pig valves. These are the closest to human tissue. Now I have 2 metal valves that click away day and night, night and day: at least in unison. (I had a 2nd open heart op 10 days after the 1st surgery to correct a rare complication)
My1st surgery as a 20-something was in the late 70’s, and from then to 2000 (expected to be my last surgery) the progress made in post operative ICU care was remarkable. Indeed the whole process is so much easier to get through, but none the less challenging, even daunting. Fortunatly the child-patients have wonderful resiliance.
Through my experience I have noted cardiac surgeons are rather unique group of people. Most tactile of all Drs, with wide smiles, and a gentle manner. They bring great love along with incredible skill, and our hearts are repaired in more than one way.
Watch the smiles, humility, and caring gestures of the Drs in Banglaore in the youtube clip below.
Open heart surgery, or rather the need for it can be rather scary. However, the experience of this life saving surgery is most remarkable: frankly awe-inspiring. It changes your view of the world, forever. It is almost impossible to accuratly relate. The surgeons understand.
ON THE GOLD COAST In Old Brookville, a seven-bedroom colonial sold in August for $5 million, 10 percent below the asking price. It was on the market for 40 days.
SURREAL as this may seem in light of the current turmoil in the financial markets, luxury home prices were up in Nassau County for the first eight months of this year. At the top of the market, particularly in communities along the North Shore, home shoppers with deep pockets have still been buying their dream houses, seemingly unaffected by economic doldrums
At least so far, “the Gold Coast is still the Gold Coast,”
